Building Proposal - Lonestar Plaza

Building Proposal - Lonestar Plaza

Our office has received a number of inquiries and questions around the proposed rebuild of the Lonestar plaza located at 780 Baseline Road.

A link to the proposed project can be found here. This link also allows residents to provide feedback to the City Planner assigned to the project, Laurel McCreight. This feedback is appreciated both by myself and the Planning department. The proposal has been subject to a virtual consultation which my office hosted on Wednesday, May 18, 2022. It was advertised in advance in the April 29 and May 13 newsletters. During this meeting, the developer committed to a second public consultation for our community, following the internal City circulation for comment. This circulation period ends on June 24th. A date has not been set yet but will be advertised through the newsletter and notice will be given to the community association as well. The time period for residents to provide feedback runs up to and including the date that this proposal goes before the Planning Committee. In fact, residents can make individual delegations to the committee. At this time, no date has been set for this meeting, but it will likely not occur until late summer or early fall at the earliest. It is possible it won't be dealt with until the beginning of next term. I should also point out that Councillor Brockington will be holding a virtual public meeting on June 28th at 7:00 pm, and you can join by using this Zoom link. In short this is very early days for this project and there is ample opportunity for the public to participate in the decision-making process. I look forward to your ideas and engagement.
