Getting a marriage licence

Getting a marriage licence

Due to the Covid-19 provincial status, in-person counter services are temporarily suspended until further notice.

At this time, ServiceOttawa is accepting online applications only. Clients will be able to pick up their marriage licence on a by-appointment, priority basis following the lifting of the Stay at Home Order.

For more information, you may call 3-1-1 and select option 6 to speak with a City of Ottawa agent.

A marriage licence is required to get married in Ontario.

  • The licence is valid for 90 days from the issued date.
  • The licence is valid for use anywhere in the province of Ontario.
