Ottawa Public Health launches additional resources to increase vaccine confidence in Ottawa

Ottawa Public Health (OPH) has announced the launch of its new Community Immunity webpage. As increased shipments of COVID-19 vaccines are expected, and eligibility criteria for vaccination opens to the general public, the OttawaPublicHealth.ca/CommunityImmunity website will be the home for our vaccine confidence campaign.

What’s on the Community Immunity website

  • A vaccination progress tracker, updated regularly to reflect the number of vaccines administered in Ottawa*
  • Reasons why people are getting vaccinated, including, to achieve #CommunityImmunity
  • Tips, tricks and a downloadable poster to help you talk about vaccines with those close to you: your friends, family, community, employees, and constituents
  • Suggestions on how to promote #CommunityImmunity in your local circles, including instructions for installing social media picture frames to encourage your friends and family to get vaccinated
  • Resources ranging from our frequently asked questions document, myth vs fact videos, COVID stories, a COVID-19 vaccine toolkit for employers, and more!

Things to remember
Book your vaccine appointment as soon as you are eligible. Each person who receives their vaccine brings us one step closer to achieving #CommunityImmunity. Until enough people are immunized against COVID-19 we'll need to follow these public health guidelines:

  • Wear a mask
  • Stay home except for essential reasons
  • Wash your hands
  • Practice physical distancing

Your mental health matters
The pandemic affects us all in different ways. Consult our mental health resources if you need to. It’s okay to not be okay.

* Fun fact: as of Monday, May 3, 40 percent of residents 18+ in Ottawa have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
